Already employing five electricians, he is always on the look out for the right staff to compliment his expanding business. He sees the value of recruiting the “more mature”, giving the following reason:

1. Their experience of life;
2. They are better able to deal with the customer;
3. They appear to be quick learners.

John stated, “We have recruited apprentices and mature improvers and have witnessed for ourselves that maturity does allow them to progress more quickly and interact with our customers better. The right person is also so important as they could, if we’re not careful, ruin our excellent reputation.”

Ben S, who recently joined John’s team, fitted the description exactly. Ben’s work was obviously appreciated by a customer of Ampfield Electrical. John gave us a recently written letter from them which said:

“Thanks again for your professional approach and we really were being serious when we said that we thought Ben was excellent, he was very respectful whilst working in our house, especially as Oscar was running around and calling him "the man!". He was helpful and very hardworking, makes such a welcome change to some of the people we have used in the past, who can't normally string two words together and never explain anything and as a result we will definitely recommend your firm to anyone we know in the future.”

John has also agreed that, when the need for a new member of staff arises, he will contact New Career Skills as he has been so impressed with Ben. He feels confident with the caliber of people we, at New Career Skills, have. He has also requested some materials on electrical training for people he know whom he feels would benefit from this course. He wants to give them this great opportunity.
