The Green Skills Shortage
Green jobs in renewable technologies and microgeneration are set to grow fast. The Government has promised to be the "greenest ever" and this means work for people qualified in these new areas, like solar and heat pumps.
"A huge market is expected to open up in the wake of the £14bn Green Deal scheme to encourage businesses and home owners to upgrade the energy efficiency of their properties.
It kicks off in October 2012 and government predictions put the number of retrofitting jobs that will be created at 100,000 by 2020"

Green Industry jobs such as the Domestic Green Engineer are rapidly experiencing skills shortages because so few people are trained. Those that have the right skills are seeing their earning potential rise as demand outstrips supply.
The role of the Domestic Green Engineer (DGE) is recession proof, future proof and property market slump proof because the DGE is providing a vital, cost saving, Government funded service to all 26,000,000 homes in the UK.
"The Green Deal will be a revolution. A once-and-for-all refit that will make every home in Britain ready for a low-carbon future."
Chris Huhne MP, Energy and Climate Change Secretary
"This is a revolution in our economy. It is as profound as moving to steam, iron and coal in the first industrial revolution. In Britain, in this third industrial revolution, we will build a new economy of low carbon and clean growth."
Chris Huhne MP, Energy and Climate Change Secretary
The skills shortage is already here and is growing rapidly.
This is a problem that New Career Skills is trying to, continuously, tackle. The New Career Skills Domestic Green Engineer Programme is specifically aimed at mature career changers, giving them the skills they need to enter this green industry.
