Brian Kidd (38) - Now A Plumber
Encouragement from friends and family persuaded 38-year old Brian to consider taking up plumbing as a second career as he found he really enjoyed working with his hands and appeared to have a talent for problem solving.

Having been in print for about 20 years, Brian took redundancy in 2004 and initially stayed at home looking after his newborn daughter. Later, the family found themselves in a position where they could afford for Brian’s wife to give up her work to stay at home to raise the family, so Brian needed something new to challenge him.
Brian heard of New Career Skills through an internet search and, since his friends and family had been telling him for years that plumbing was something he would be good at, he decided to enrol for the course.
“I found the course was very thorough and very interesting,” said Brian.
“I particularly enjoyed the practical side, especially during the latter part of the course when we concentrated on bathroom installation and central heating.”
Currently, Brian is busy looking for permanent employment but is certainly keeping up his newly acquired skills by doing jobs for friends and family! He says he would thoroughly recommend the course to others who are looking for a practical career.
