NCS Career Search is our free service for students to help them find employment or start their own business after they have completed their training. Career Search also arranges work experience for students to bridge the gap between study and real life.

New Career Skills has been offering a range of electrical training and electrician courses for domestic electricians for many years. NCS have been helping people retrain for an electrical career since 1998, either starting their own electrician business or working for someone else as a trained electrician.

NCS help all types of people retrain for a new electrical career on our electrician courses, from people with some experience in the electrical field, who are looking for City and Guilds 2392, City and Guilds 2382 or City and Guilds 2377 or the Logic Solar Photovoltaic Installers Course; to other career changers who have no experience and want an electrical course leading to a full EAL Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers (Level 2), including Part P. New Career Skills has been training plumbers for 12 years. Their plumbing courses are designed for beginners and the plumbing course includes comprehensive training on practical plumbing skills, the City & Guilds 6128 Level 2 Heating and Ventilating Technical Certificate, the City & Guilds 6189 NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing, Heating and Ventilating, the BPEC Water Supply Regulations Qualification, the BPEC Domestic Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems Qualification, the BPEC Part P (Defined Scope) Electrical Competence Qualification as well as other practical plumbing training.

Once you have completed your plumbing course, NCS Career Search will help you find a job as a plumber or assist you in setting up your plumbing business. The New Career Skills plumbing course is delivered through blended learning; a mix of plumbing theory and plumbing practical skills.

Renewable energy training courses are New Career Skills' fastest growing area of training, as the green career market grows. NCS offer solar thermal courses, solar photovoltaic (pv) courses, air source heat pump courses, ground source heat pump training, underfloor heating courses and all types of green training.

There is a massive skills shortage for trained people who can work on solar thermal, solar photovoltaic and heat pumps. The NCS green energy course includes renewable energy training in all these technologies. NCS Career Search will then help you to set up your own solar or heat pump business, or to find employment in the renewable energy industry. NCS will also advise on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme or MCS accreditation.

New Career Skills' solar training includes solar courses in the two main solar technologies: solar thermal, which is used to generate hot water, and solar photovoltaic (or solar PV as it is known), which is where solar power generates electricity from solar cells. Both technologies involve solar panels, usually mounted on the roof.

Our solar thermal courses can either be taken as a stand-alone programme for people with plumbing experience or they can form part of our green technology courses. Experienced electricians can take our solar photovoltaic training as a stand-alone programme (which also includes working at heights and manual handling courses). New starters can chose our electrical course and chose the advanced electrical course which includes solar photovoltaic training.
